This mysterious being haunts us from the ballads of folklore to this day. Crying, the bagolyasszonyka or owl woman tells about her life, which she can never return to again.

According to folklore owls bring the souls of newborn children and take away those of the dead. Could the bagolyasszonyka be a spirit creature who is forced to leave everything behind and carry souls back and forth to the otherworld, trapped in a no-man’s-land and belonging to neither world?

We will never know.
